Kim began her love affair with art at the tender age of five. Her mother diligently enrolled her in every class available where she regularly attended private lessons in artist’s homes across the Charlotte area. In high school Kim studied at Andy Braitman’s renowned studio in hopes of preparing for a career in a creative field. Her long-held dream of becoming a painter digressed to attending Architecture school where she learned many design principles employed in her works today. She currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and three children. Motherhood has been the catalyst that rekindled a desire to paint. Kim uses the moments in her process as a kind of therapy, working through the subconscious on canvas, layering movement, color and texture. She uses a series of gestural mark making, and action painting to explore ideas of choice, pathways, and migration. She is continuously inspired by the innumerable variations of life, the sheer abundance of possibility that is offered to us.
You can find a selection of Kim's paintings at Slate Interiors and Art House in Charlotte, NC. Please inquire about all other available pieces through email. Thank you!
